We know that El Paso, and indeed Texas, can be a perfect setting for a Grand Theft Auto game. However with the release of the GTA VI trailer that came out, showing that it will indeed take place in Vice City, the fictionalized version of Miami, Florida, those possibilities will have to wait. But...that doesn't mean we can't think of our playlists for when the game comes out.

What songs does El Paso pick to be in Grand Theft Auto VI?

Now watching the trailer, it's a safe bet to say that since the trailer has "Love is a Long Road" by Tom Petty, the song will be included in the soundtrack (also the "Petty Forever" sticker says there may be more songs).

But when I asked online, "which song(s) would you want to see in GTA VI?", we got a massive playlist going. And yes I HAD to pick Rush.

Without a doubt, one of the most popular picks came from Anthony Gonzales: "We better get Africa by Toto again like in the original Vice City". I couldn't agree more.

Another popular pick was "I Ran (So Far Away)" by A Flock of Seagulls; another classic from the original Vice City.

One of the first comments we got, was for some Phil Collins (or Genesis). Pato Garcia picked "Easy Lover" or "Turn it On Again".

But we got some heavy metal picks too;

  • Omar Lucero picked either Megadeth or Slayer (throwback to the V-Rock station in Vice City)
  • Ian picked wanted some Ghost.
  • George Esquivel picked Motorhead's "Ace of Spades"

Of course with the game being sent in the fictionalized version of Florida called Leonida, there were some picks for some local Florida bands:

  • T.L. Essery picked Limp Bizkit's "Break Stuff"
  • and Marie Castillo picked some old school Lynyrd Skynyrd, "That Smell".

Some of the other popular choices we saw were:

  • Red Rider "Lunatic Fringe" (Rusty Burns)
  • Eric Clapton "Cocaine" (Miguel Kennedy)
  • Laura Branigan "Self Control" or "Gloria" (Mikko Perez)
  • Iron Maiden "2 Minutes to Midnight" (Louie Carillo)
  • Rick Ross "Push it to the Limit" (Tim Lopez"
  • The Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter" (Patrick Aguilar)
  • Jimmy Buffet "Margaritaville" (Brian Escajeda.) that one would certainly fit the vibe...
  • Manny Armendariz said "anything Taylor Swift"
  • Raul F Holguin picked Swan Lake...which honestly sounds like an amazing song to play while going on a rampage in GTA.
  • and we saw a pick for Rush. "Tom Sawyer" chosen by Jimmy Munyala. (great choice!)

Gus Mendez had 3 songs in mind: "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.....Low Rider, Girls Just Want to Have Fun". While Alex Trejo picked some pop tunes:  "ABCDEFU" by Gayle & "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish"... and that's just the stuff on Facebook.

On Instagram here's what we got:

  • sinister_paige "Bad Bunny & Peso Pluma 😂"
  • moto_fiend110 picked "Mama/Show Love" by Logic
  • scorpino.sixx.199 picked Jelly Roll
  • wedon'ttalkboutbruno95 "If we're talking for Miami vibes - the Selfie song and Summertime Sadness 😂"
  • texicanincali on Instagram picked Judas Priest "Painkiller".
  • and phantom_damien picked the mighty Metallica's "Master of Puppets"

Even Joanna Barba from the Buzz Adams Morning Show chimed in picking "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac & Steve Kaplowitz chose the Miami Vice theme song, of course.

So there you go Rockstar Games. You got some great suggestions for GTA VI's soundtrack; and of course if you need more, we got you! Let's see if any of these artists will indeed make the soundtrack in 2025!
