Seriously? El Paso Ranked One Of The Best Cities For Drivers?
My first thought when I read about this was, have the people that did this study actually been to El Paso??
I'm so not kidding. Ranking Royals listed El Paso as one of the best cities for drivers. Not just in the USA either, their list looked at cities from all over the world.
Even more remarkable is the fact that only 2 cities in the entire United States of America made the list. Us and Detroit; you can see the whole list here.
As El Pasoans are painfully aware, driving around El Chuco is painful in and of itself. For years now, the 915 has been "Orange Barrel City" as TxDoT seems to be working on every single road they can find.
If they don't have a road closed or blocked to work on it, the city has a lane or area closed to do landscaping ... it's crazy.
Who Says El Paso Is One Of The Worst Cities To Drive In?
Forbes magazine, however, totally disagrees with Ranking Royals.
Interestingly, another study — this one released by Forbes — tells a very different story about El Pasoans behind the wheel. In February 2024, the business magazine named El Paso one of the worst cities to drive.
Forbes compared the 50 most populated U.S. cities and identified where drivers engage in the most hazardous behavior that threatens public safety. - EPTimes
The Forbes report was based on the number of fatal car accidents and fatal accidents involving drunk drivers. According to the El Paso Times, Ranking Royals used stats like (2019) infrastructure, safety, costs, road quality, traffic conditions and accident rates along with fuel and parking costs.
