Summer is not done with us yet and El Paso is getting hotter ... hotter than anywhere else in Texas and almost everywhere else in the United States of America.

A recent study of 241 locations across the United States of America shows that 95% of them are warmer today than they were 50 years ago.

The top 5 cities found to be heating up the fastest list includes the 915.

The study, done by Climate Central, studied weather data going all the way back to 1970 and found summers getting consistently warmer just about everywhere.

95% of US locations have warmer summers

Since 1970, 230 of the 241 locations analyzed across the country have seen consistently warmer summers by an average of 2.5℉. The Northwest, Southwest and South are leading in rising temperatures. The South has warmed by an average of 2.8℉. - EPTimes

The study also found over half, (53%), of the places they looked at had at least 2 more weeks worth of extra hot summer days. Summer has been getting longer too with 13 cities getting anywhere from 45 - 67 extra days of summer. Of those 13, 6 were in Texas.

Summer 2023 was the hottest summer ever recorded on Earth. That's assuming 2024 doesn't set a new record. (The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says there's a 61% chance it will.) The top 5 fastest warming cities were:

  1. Reno, Nevada up 11.1 degrees
  2. Boise, Idaho up 6 degrees
  3. El Paso, Texas up 5.8 degrees
  4. Las Vegas, Nevada up 5.6 degrees
  5. Salt Lake City, Utah up 5.6 degrees
