These Texas Cities Are the Best & Worst to Get Sleep in the U.S.
With literally millions of people in the state of Texas, one might think it's not a state that gets much sleep. And people would be wrong...sorta. Turns out that a few cities do indeed rank amongst the most sleep-deprived cities in the United States but there's one city where you're likely to get a ton of sleep.
What Texas city is the best for sleep?
According to the Sleep Foundation, Austin ranks #10 in the top 10 U.S. cities that get the most sleep. You wouldn't think Austin would be so high, on account of how many concerts & parties occur in the city weekly, but it does.
The reason why is that most of the population has a lot of time to exercise & only 28.2% of its population is considered obese. Its low air pollution is another factor on why people get a ton of sleep. (Also, hey, maybe getting sleep after a night of partying is a factor too).
If Austin's the best, what's the worst Texas city for sleep?
Well, actually it's more like...CITIES. 3 Texas cities ranked amongst the most sleep-deprived cities in the country. In a list containing 26 different American cities, 3 from Texas made the list
#19 was San Antonio. 36.8% of the population says they get less than 7 hours of sleep a night.
#16 was Corpus Christi with 37% of the population claiming they don't get enough sleep.
And the worst was Laredo at #15. 37.3% of the population says they get less than 7 hours of sleep a night.
So next time you're traveling through Texas, you have an idea of which cities you can catch some Z's and which ones you might have a hard time doing so...
