In a heart-wrenching incident at Brandeis High School, Alfred Jimenez, a dedicated special needs instructional assistant, tragically passed away following an interaction with a student. 

CRITICAL HEAD INJURY 

The unfortunate event unfolded on February 7th, when 73-year-old Jimenez, known affectionately by students and staff as Mr. Fred, attempted to guide a student in a special needs classroom. It was during this interaction that he fell, suffering a critical head injury that would lead to his passing 10 days later, The Northside ISD Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.

The incident occurred in the school's applied learning environment classroom, a space specifically designed to cater to students with severe learning disabilities. Despite immediate assistance from campus staff and urgent medical care, Jimenez succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.

In response to this tragic loss, Northside Superintendent Dr. John Craft and Brandeis High School Principal Dr. Geri Berger expressed their deep condolences. 

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Jimenez Family during this challenging time. We remain dedicated to providing support to Mrs. Jimenez and her family. In addition, counselors will also be available to support students and staff at the campus," -Dr. John Craft, Superintendent of NISD, and Dr. Geri Berger, principal of Brandeis High School.
