Hot Air Balloon Explodes at New Mexico Balloon Festival
A terrible accident hit the New Mexico Balloon Festival this week. The balloon fiesta in Albuquerque is a family favorite and has been for years. Few accidents have been reported and this one is probably the largest for the New Mexico festival.
A hot air balloon holding a man and a woman exploded during the festival Sunday morning after slamming into power lines near I-25 and Montano. Officials say the woman riding in the basket was stricken by a bolt of electricity and transported to the hospital. Condition of the victims is unknown. There were several power outages reported in the area after the incident.
