The Fourth of July can be tough on pups and cats. Fireworks are beautiful for humans, but their pets don't have as much fun celebrating Independence Day as we do. Imagine the fear that shelter animals must feel. That's why the El Paso Animal Services Shelter is asking for your help in keeping their charges safe and calm this Fourth of July with Pops With The Paws.

Every year, the El Paso Animal Services Shelter and other area animal rescue groups see a huge influx of lost pets who run away after getting frightened by fireworks. Animal Services wants to make sure that the dogs and cats in the shelter don't get scared by the Fourth of July fireworks by having the public go to the shelter and read a favorite book to the animals while listening to the Boston Pops.

You'll need to bring your own chair, seat, or cushion, and, of course, your favorite book. You'll hang out with the pets, read a book and help them enjoy Independence Day, too. If you could bring a donation of treats or a toy, that would be great.

There is limited seating, You'll need to buy a $10 per person ticket. Go to Eventbrite to buy your ticket. If you don't have a ticket, you will not be able to participate.
