Have A Child 5 Years Old Or Younger? Get Them Free Immunizations From City Of El Paso
For the last year and a half the word 'vaccine' was almost exclusively used in the same sentence as COVID-29 or coronavirus, but if you have a child you know that vaccine is also what the little ones have to get. National Infant Immunization Week is from April 24 to May 1 and the City of El Paso is making free vaccines available to eligible children 5 years of age and under.
The annual event is held so that parents know the importance and benefits of immunizing their kiddos to not only improve the health of their children but also how important it is to protect infants and young children from preventable diseases through immunization. Even though we are still fighting our way out of the COVID-19 pandemic, officials say they want to make sure parents keep their kids on track with regular medical visits and routinely recommended vaccinations.
The Department of Public Health is offering free immunizations for families of children who meet one of these Texas Vaccines for Children guidelines:
If a child is enrolled in Medicaid
If a child is Uninsured with no health insurance coverage
If a child is American Indian or Alaskan Native
If a child is enrolled in CHIP (El Paso Health only)
If a child is underinsured either with no insurance coverage for vaccinations or only partial coverage
You will have to make a vaccines appointment by calling (915) 212-6555. Appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:
Ysleta Health Center (110 Candelaria Rd.)
El Paso Immunization Clinic (5115 El Paso Dr.)
Your child can get the following vaccines:
Diphtheria, Tetanus and Acellular Pertussis (DTaP)
Diphtheria Tetanus (DT)
Haemophilus Influenza (Hib)
Hepatitis A (HepA)
Hepatitis B (HepB)
Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
Pneumococcal 13-Valent Conjugate (PCV13)
