Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya Reportedly Coming To El Paso
Fight Night is going down June 19th at the Don thanks to Golden Boy Promotions and it looks like legendary boxer Oscar De La Hoya will be in attendance.
Former junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia and Maciej Sulecki were originally scheduled to square off April 24th at the Don Haskins Center but an injury forced Sulecki to postpone the bout. Golden Boy Promotions announced the new date on Twitter and Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya discussed the card, per KTSM:
“Although there have been several changes, we are happy because things are back on track for Jaime Munguia’s return on June 19. I’m confident that he will deliver a tremendous performance against Maciej Sulecki and show everyone why he deserves an opportunity to become a two-division world champion.”
While many are simply excited to see boxing returning to the Sun City, boxing fans might even get the chance to catch a glimpse of a boxing legend.
While the information about Oscar De La Hoya coming to town and a night of boxing is enough to make someone want to grab tickets, Chavez also acknowledged it's close to the anniversary of another time De La Hoya was in El Paso:
Munguia vs Sulecki World Championship Boxing Night is at the Don Haskins Center on Saturday, June 19th. Tickets are on sale right now through Ticketmaster and start at $60 plus convenience fees.
