If you’ve gotten fully vaccinated with either the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson vaccines at least eight months ago, you can get your booster shot this weekend. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso will be holding a vaccination drive this weekend and they will offer the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine if you have not gotten vaccinated previously and the Pfizer booster shots for those already vaccinated.

The vaccination drive will be held on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on their El Paso campus at 4801 Alberta Avenue in Central El Paso.

In order for you to qualify for a booster shot, Texas Tech officials say you have to either be immunocompromised or have gotten your full vaccination, no matter which vaccine you got, more than eight months ago. The Pfizer booster shots work with anyone who has been previously vaccinated regardless of whether they got the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

You cannot get the COVID-19 booster show if you have tested positive for COVID less than 90 days. If you have questions about the vaccination drive, getting the Pfizer booster, or getting the COVID-19 vaccination you can call 915-215-4300 for more information.

The City of El Paso is also giving a third dose of vaccine, or a booster if you are moderate to severely immunocompromised. City officials say they will give the third dose 28 days after your second dose. Officials say the third dose gives people with weakened immune systems more protection against getting infected with COVID.
