You can now see daily coronavirus-related data for state hospitals, state supported living centers, nursing facilities and assisted living facilities online.

State and local health officials have been saying for months that releasing that information would be detrimental to the businesses if they information was released and they also said that releasing the information might be a violation of HIPAA regulations. Yesterday, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission released COVID-19 data on specific facilities including positive case counts and deaths on their website. In El Paso County there are 21 state run, state supported facilities:

According to HHSC officials, they are releasing the COVID-19 information with guidance from the Texas Attorney General and will continue to protect the private health information in the facilities. The COVID-19 data will be updated Monday through Friday by 2 p.m. local time.
