Have you received your COVID-19 vaccine yet? Would you like to? How about free books for your kids, do you want some? If you silently nodded your head ‘yes’ or did a mental fist pump to either of the rhetorical questions then be at the El Paso Downtown Art and Farmers Market this Saturday, May 1.

Saturday is the day El Paso Public Libraries and El Paso Parks & Recreation celebrates the 25th anniversary of its annual Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros children's literacy event, and the market is one of the various city-wide locations where they will be handing out free books.

May 1 is also the date the City of El Paso will be hosting a COVID vaccine “pop-up event” at the market.

According to a post on the El Paso Downtown Art and Farmers Market Facebook, the vaccinations will be conducted drive-thru style. The free COVID-19 vaccines will be available to anyone 18 years of age and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros is from 10 a.m. to noon. You can find the list of the city recreation and community centers participating HERE.

The free books giveaway is only a one-day event, but the vaccine pop-ups will also take place next Saturday, May 8. You'll find more details and locations in this article on the KISS El Paso website.

The El Paso Downtown Art and Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District along Anthony Street, and features baked goods, original arts and crafts and regionally grown produce offered by local artists, farmers and food vendors.
