‘Fiesta’ Will Officially Reopen San Jacinto Plaza on April 16

Save the date -- the long overdue and much-anticipated opening of the new San Jacinto Plaza is happening next weekend and you're invited.

As I first reported last week, the grand reopening is set for Saturday, April 16. The planned “fiesta” will start with a dedication ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and conclude with a day long celebration that will include live music, roaming street performers (Please, God, no Mimes. Eeek!), balloon artists, and various family activities.

Attendees will be among the first to walk the 2-acre plaza since it was closed for renovations almost 3 years ago. Since then, a splash pad, chess and ping-pong tables, huacha courts and a cafe have been added.

One amenity it doesn't have is bathrooms, so if you plan to go make sure you do your business before you head out the door.
