An El Paso family is devastated after one of their loved ones died while riding his motorcycle in the Lower Valley. El Paso Police Department investigators say 53 year old David Herrera of Horizon City died while riding a dirt bike along a canal. His body was found along the canal area in the 1100 block of N. Zaragoza on Sunday night just before 7 o'clock.

PASSERBY NOTIFIES POLICE

A local news station reports that El Paso Police investigators say that Herrera could have been at the location south of Blackie Chesher Park since earlier in the day. They have not been able to fix the time that he passed away. Police were notified about Herrera when a passerby let them know that Herrera was there.

VERY FEW DETAILS RELEASED

The El Paso Police Department investigators have not released many details but they did say that there is a sudden drop-off along the canal. Investigators say Herrera couldn't stop and fell onto a lower portion of the canal. The area where Herrera was riding is not supposed to be used by any vehicles.

FAMILY USES TWITTER FOR HELP FINDING HIM

There is nothing I can imagine sadder than having to go to strangers to ask for help in finding a loved one, but Herrera's family had to do just that. His daughter took to Twitter to ask for any information about her dad's whereabouts.

When the worst news was confirmed, Herrera's daughter took to Twitter once again to break the news and ask for privacy. We are terribly sorry for the Herrera family and our deepest condolences go out to them.
