One of my favorite movies of all time is Somewhere in Time. This classic movie with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour is no different. I really love this movie. Somewhere in Time was released in 1980 and it pretty much flew under the radar. There was an actor's strike going on at the time so there was very little promotion of the film, and even though Christopher Reeve had made a huge splash a couple of years earlier with Superman the Movie, this movie seemed like a bit of a step down for him. But it wasn't. It is an amazing movie.

Reeve plays Richard Collier, a playwright, who becomes obsessed with the photo of a stage actress, Elise McKenna, from 1910. Problem is, Richard lives in the 1970s. He reads a book about time travel and goes to the Grand Hotel, the last place Elise acted in a play, and travels back in time. Of course Richard and Elise fall in love. Their happiness is hampered by her crazy jealous manager played by Christopher Plummer. He knows there is something off about Richard and has him beaten up so that he can spirit Elise away from Richard.

That's all I'm going to tell you about the movie. If you've seen it, you know how the story ends. If you haven't, you should go see this movie. And you should go see it at the Alamo Drafthouse when they screen Somewhere In Time and serve afternoon tea. There is nothing like afternoon tea. It's so elegant and it will go perfectly with the movie. Your ticket includes three servings of tea and a plate of the following treats:

Bacon Cheddar Scone With Chive Butter*
Cucumber & Herb Cream Cheese Sandwich
Key Lime Pie with Cornflake Crust
