The nominations for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards are out and El Paso's Khalid is up for one of the biggest.

The Americas High graduate turned global superstar is in the running for Record of the Year for the hit single "Talk." Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year are considered the three most prestigious Grammy Awards an artist can win.

His nomination in the category shows the strides he and his music have made in just two short years going from almost exclusively R&B/Urban airplay to the cross-over appeal he’s currently enjoying on pop radio.

"Talk" was released in February of 2019 and became Khalid's fifth top 10 hit and highest-charting single as a solo artist in the U.S., peaking at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Wikipedia. Earlier this year, he performed the song live on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "Saturday Night Live," and "Good Morning America."

This latest Grammy nod is the 6th for Khalid and the first since he was nominated for 5, including Best New Artist, in 2018. The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards will be handed out on January 26, 2020 and broadcast on CBS.
