El Paso’s 3D Balloon Mural Series Expands To 9 in Segundo Barrio
Another 3D balloon mural part of an ongoing series has gone up in Segundo, making it the ninth in the mural series featured all over El Paso.
Part of a 3D balloon mural series, a new mural installment expands to nine in El Paso’s Segundo Barrio near Bowie Bakery.
Local artist Tino Ortega is back with his latest addition to his mural series with Mylar-style balloons of the letters S and B representing Segundo Barrio.
Last year, Ortega began creating these interactive and lifelike murals in remembrance of the victims of the August 3rd Walmart shootings helping unite our community through the power of art.

Commissioned by Segundo Barrio, the new mural is the ninth in the ongoing series to twenty-three.
Ortega tells me that the tremendous support from our community has been phenomenal. He also took to social media to say:
The feeling of heritage rings loudly in the segundo barrio. Even though I personally didn’t grow up there, I had many family members that did. My aunt would tell me stories about their times and experiences there. The neighborhood definitely has this energy that words would fall short of. I am enthralled to have the @segundobarrioac sponsor this piece, for all to enjoy that same energy. Thank you to all that helped with this painting @daniellacortinas @alainthemane @leylaland91 and @taviruman it was truly appreciated
Tino Ortega will continue to seek funding and space to complete the remaining murals leading up to twenty-three. Anyone interested in contributing to his cause can reach out to him on Instagram or drop him a few bucks on Cash App at $artegtino.
