Does your teen have an interest in becoming a firefighter? Or maybe they don’t but they want to learn more about fire safety. Or maybe you just need to pull them away from the electronics this Summer.

Whatever the case may be, The El Paso Fire Department’s Summer Youth Camp is a great way to keep your teen active this Summer while learning some very important life skills.

The El Paso Fire Department is currently accepting applications for their Summer Youth Camp but the deadline to submit your child’s application is quickly approaching. Friday, May 20th to be exact!

The EPFD Summer Youth Camp is free to all eligible participants but is limited to 24 students between the ages of 13 to 17. Each applicant will be selected based on their suitability for the Summer Youth Camp and based on answers provided on the application.

The Summer Youth Camp will provide teens with an opportunity to gain an understanding of fire and life safety issues. Teens will also learn and develop skills that are used in search and rescue operations, team-building skills, and become an advocate for safety as well as for the El Paso Fire Department.

Summer Youth Camp activities will be held at the El Paso Fire Department’s Training
Academy is located at 6800 Delta Drive. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June 28th to June 30th.

If this sounds like something you want your teen involved in then fill out the application before Friday, May 20th!

Meals will not be provided so each person will be required to bring their lunch every day. Campers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and closed-toe shoes, no sandals will be allowed.

“Learning at the Summer Youth Camp is highly interactive and hands-on in nature. Most
activities are conducted in pairs or teams, in which the campers must work together
and rely on each other to succeed,” said camp officials.
