Americas High School graduate Khalid, considered a rising star in the music world, is killing it.

His first full-length record, American Teen, is blowing up, he's selling out venues every where he goes, and on Wednesday, March 15, he'll make his national debut as the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Not bad for a 19-year-old fresh out of high school.

His life is about to change big time, and I couldn't be happier for him.

I don't know him at all, but how can you not root for a guy who has nothing but love for El Paso, a city he didn't even move to until his senior year in high school -- which wasn't all that long ago.

He was born in Georgia, has lived all over the U.S. and six years in Germany, according to an entry on Wikipedia, but our city is the place he chooses to represent and call home.

There are lots of people born and raised here that don't have two good words to say about El Paso. This guy name drops us in his lyrics and uses El Paso locations and imagery in his videos. That's freaking awesome.

Check out his national debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, March 15 at 10:35 p.m. on NBC (KTSM/Newschannel 9).
