El Paso Parents Have To Watch Their Kids Participate In Sports Outside The Arena
If there is one thing I know kids are missing right now about being in school it's participating in sports. So many student athletes had their high school sports careers either completely destroyed by the pandemic cancelling their last season in high school or they had to deal with all the restrictions that were put into place so they could participate.
Their parents were also affected by the restrictions. Parents of student athletes were, in many cases, not allowed to attend games or meets because of COVID restrictions, or in the case of the parents I ran into watching their kids competing in a track and field meet this past weekend. Because of COVID restrictions, parents had to watch their kids from outside the Eastwood High School fence to see their kiddos compete.
As you can see from the video, it's not the best way to watch a sporting event, but you have to love the parents who made the time and effort to stand the whole time during a sporting event from faraway. Some parents took to the roofs of their vehicles.
Hopefully this pandemic will get to the point where it's manageable enough to allow parents like these at Eastwood High School to be able to watch their kids participating in sports from inside an arena or gymnasium once again.
