2 El Paso Neighbors Make Must See List Of Spots In Texas
2 of El Paso's neighbors have made a Texas scenic spots "bucket list".
A travel website, thetravel.com, just released their top 10 most beautiful spots in Texas list. All of these places are worthy of being singled out and 2 of them are right in our backyard.
Whether you have friends or family in town to entertain or you yourself just want a change of scenery, these are places to totally keep in mind.
Number 10 on the list is Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Among other amazing things about this park is that it is home to the highest point in Texas. The 8,749 foot high "Top of Texas", Guadalupe Peak.
The park's about 113 miles from El Paso so you can get there in under 2 hours. There are two routes: You can take U.S. Highway 62/180 or you can follow I-10 east to Van Horn, then take Highway 54 the park.
Big Bend National Park also made the list. Big Bend is a little farther away but soooo worth the drive.
It's about 330 miles from EP and takes around 6 hours drive time. (Directions here.)
Again, worth every mile of it.
Among other things within Big Bend you'll find:
- The Langford Hot Springs are in the park, water temps average 105 degrees.
- The Chisos Mountains. The ONLY mountain range sittig completely within a national park.
- A star gazers delight. Big Bend is so far away from everything, it has almost no light pollution and was designated an "international dark-sky park" in 2012 by the International Dark Sky Association.
Whether it's a daytrip, an overnighter or a vacation, these places are not only super convenient; they're surrounded by cool things to see and do.
They're also accessible year round.
