El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser says he will not run for re-election, but says it is not because of his health.

Leeser's announcement came during a budget meeting on today (Thursday, June 28).

Leeser took time off earlier for unspecified health issues, but said the only reason why he was not going to seek another term as El Paso mayor is because he had accomplished what he wanted to while in office.

Leeser said he wanted to decrease the unemployment rate, sell El Paso, and unite Juarez and El Paso and feels like he has done that. When asked about his health issues, he said there have been some struggles, but he is doing well.
