El Paso brought the heat in a big way as the city officially proclaimed Eddie Guerrero Day on November 18th, 2025, turning the courthouse plaza into a sea of pride, nostalgia and love for one of the greatest entertainers this city has ever produced. Fans didn’t just show up. They showed out, proving once again that Eddie’s legacy runs deep in the Borderland.

I spoke with Chris Rojas, the driving force behind the Eddie Guerrero Legacy Project and the man who helped make this proclamation happen. According to Rojas, today is only the beginning. The Legacy Project is pushing forward on two major efforts: raising funds to restore the iconic Eddie Guerrero mural at Lincoln Park and creating a brand-new statue that will stand proudly in a park named after Eddie himself. The goal is to give El Paso a permanent, powerful tribute to a man who changed wrestling and touched countless lives far beyond the ring.

The courthouse crowd got an unforgettable surprise too. Eddie Guerrero’s legendary lowrider, the one that made its unforgettable debut on SmackDown, was parked front and center. Fans stopped for photos, shared memories and lined up to see the custom ride that became one of Eddie’s most famous calling cards. Just having it there added an emotional punch to the celebration, reminding everyone why Eddie’s style and charisma were unmatched.

The event also drew a lineup of notable El Paso names, even Kaylie Guerrero, Representative Rocha, and Krystall Poppin! Local celebrities, performers and even luchadores came out to pay tribute. Masks, capes and championship belts mixed with fans in Eddie shirts as everyone came together for one purpose: honoring the man who represented Latino Heat with pride. And of course, El Paso's own, Christian Iglesias, was there to take beautiful photos of the whole moment.

You could feel the love in every cheer, every chant and every smile. This wasn’t just a proclamation. It was a community showing exactly what Eddie Guerrero meant to El Paso and what El Paso still means to him. Chris Rojas is still looking to fulfill the rest of The Eddie Guerrero Legacy Project and if you want to be a part of it, just contact him over on Instagram: @chrismrojas

Eddie may be gone, but his flame hasn’t dimmed one bit. If anything, today proved it burns hotter than ever. This city really is Latino Heat.
