EPPD: Couple Allegedly Switch Seats Before Getting Pulled Over, Both Get Drunk Driving Charges
The ol' switcheroo resulted in drunk-driving charges for not one, but two El Pasoans after they both allegedly drove the same car while under the influence this past weekend.
According to an El Paso Police Department press release, Laura Ordonez, 22, and Isaac Samuel Juarez, 27, were arrested early Sunday morning (6/18) after cops spotted a 2015 Nissan Sentra speeding down Paisano and gave chase.
As police neared the vehicle, (cue The Benny Hill Show theme song), “they observed the Nissan stopped in the middle of the roadway and…Juarez moving from the passenger seat, around the rear of the vehicle to the driver’s seat. (Awww, that was sweet of him. #RelationshipGoals.)
As Juarez began to drive away, officers conducted the traffic stop.
The subsequent investigation determined both parties were intoxicated. The original driver, Laura Ordonez, was charged with DWI and having an open container. Juarez, who had a previous conviction for DWI, was charged with "DWI 2nd Offense."
