The decision was made on the fact that the many street closures throughout the city will impact the county offices directly since there are many downtown streets closed. This will make it difficult for county office employees to make it into work.

All ports of entry into the United States and out of the states will be open and some even on extended hours to accommodate the Pope's visit and the mass amount of people expected to be traveling that day.

El Paso County joined a list of other public places that will be closed that day. They include the City of El Paso, the University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso Community College and several school districts in the region. Please click on the link to see the list of closures.
