An El Paso Connection to The Cheech Center Grand Opening
A friend to the El Paso, Texas area and huge celebrity Cheech Marin is hosting a grand opening for his new Chicano cultural & art museum in Riverside, California.
The Riverside Art Museum has partnered up with Cheech and the City of Riverside to open The Cheech Center, which will house a private-public collection of Chicano art, including sculptures, video arts, photography, and paintings.
This partnership is a great accomplishment for Cheech, who obviously is incredibly passionate about supporting and sharing Chicano art. He shared that love with El Pasoans during his speech at the El Paso Museum, and now that love will find a forever home in Riverside's Art Museum.
To celebrate this new exhibit, Riverside Art Museum is hosting a grand opening with tons of festive family-friendly activities, including a Ballet Folklorico performance.
Now, why am I so stuck on the Ballet Folklorico?
Well, my godson/nephew, Shane will be performing at The Cheech Center!
Yeah, I really reached for that El Paso connection to The Riverside Museum but just look at that face!
I am just so proud of him and really wish I could see him perform, especially for Cheech!
Who doesn't want to make Cheech Marin smile without getting him high?
I know the adorable group of dancers from Ballet Folklorico de Riverside will not only get Cheech in a festive mood but probably anyone who watches them.
I know plenty of El Pasoans probably have some relatives in California, so when you are out visiting those family members, take them to The Cheech Center.
Forget Disneyland, take your kids to learn about Chicano art.
