El Paso Comic Con Returns Downtown This Month, Guardians of the Galaxy Star among Celebrity Guests

El Paso Comic Con returns to downtown this April with actors Michael Rooker and John Barrowman, and former wrestler Kevin Nash among the 2023 celebrity guests.

The annual event is where comic book, anime, sci-fi, fantasy, and cosplay fans can gather with like-minded individuals and fly their nerd flag high.

Featured Guests

Michael Rooker, best known for his roles as the blue-skinned alien named Yondu Udonta in The Guardians of the Galaxy movies, will be making a long overdue appearance.

Rooker is a Walking Dead alum, as well. He played Daryl’s older brother, Merle Dixon, on the first couple of seasons of the AMC series.

John Barrowman is best known for his portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in the sci-fi hits Doctor Who and Torchwood, and as Malcolm Merlyn in the TV shows Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Flash.

Wrestlers

The wrestling world always gets represented pretty well at El Paso Comic Con.

This year, former wrestlers Kevin Nash – a.k.a. Diesel – and former WWE Woman’s Champion and current Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Champion Mickie James will be at the event.

Lucha League, the independent pro wrestling league based in El Paso, will present a kid’s clinic and hold a couple of matches during the convention.

Cancellations

Patrick Warburton who you may remember as Elaine’s boyfriend Puddy on Seinfeld or as the voice of Joe Swanson on Family Guy, and Steven Ogg, who played Simon in The Walking Dead, will no longer be appearing. Both canceled “due to professional commitments.”

Other Noteworthy Appearances

Other actors making appearances include Ethan Suplee, best known for his roles in the movie Remember the Titans and as Randy Hickey on the TV show My Name Is Earl, and anime voice actors Zach Aguilar, Luci Christian, and Lindsay Seidel

El Paso Comic-Con 2023 is set for Friday, April 21, through Sunday, April 23 at the Convention Center downtown.
