Ballparks.com has named Southwest University Park, home of the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Ballpark of the Year. It was a tough fight to get the park built, but it has been getting rave reviews since it opened.

A recent YouTube video posted by a drone photographer shows just how beautiful the ballpark is:

The website checks out new and remodeled ballparks and takes into account architectural design, the site the ballpark sits on, and the fan experience. One baseball blogger says his visit to Southwest University Park was one of the best he's ever had. Benjamin Hill, an MiLB blogger, said the food and fan experience at the SUP are in the top five of over 100 minor league ballparks.

MountainStar Sports Group said the title of Ballpark of the Year is an honor for the whole community, and the group worked hard to build a first-class facility. El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser said the award was well deserved and hopes every El Pasoan takes pride in what it represents – family fun and excitement, and national recognition at the highest level.

Congratulations Southwest University Park and the El Paso Chihuahuas! You've hit a home run!
