El Paso Animal Services is asking the community for help as they continue to struggle with an influx in shelter dogs at their facility. 700 to be exact!

“We are experiencing a supply shortage on adult dog food and with over 700 dogs in our care we are quickly running out,” read a post shared to the shelter's social media accounts.

Another post shared to FitFam of El Paso’s Instagram page showed the influx of dogs, some that were chipped and others that were not chipped. According to that post, the shelter is over capacity by 500 dogs and the shelter is urging locals to stop by the shelter if they are missing their dog or if they wish to adopt a pet.

Because of this influx, the shelter is also asking the community for dog food donations to help them feed the dogs in their care.

“We are particularly low on the brands we use for our shelter pups to avoid any upset tummy discomfort,” said shelter officials.

These brands include:

  •  Purina One Chicken and Rice
  • Purina Proplan Complete Essentials Chicken and Rice
  • Diamond Naturals Adult Beef and Rice

The shelter is also accepting monetary donations or people can visit their website to donate directly through the shelter’s Amazon wishlist. You can find that link by Clicking Here.

In-person food donations can be made Monday through Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm at the shelter which is located at 5001 Fred Wilson Ave.
