Goat Yoga, Pet Costume Contest Highlight Downtown El Paso Pet Party This Weekend

Let your doggo know he needs to keep being a good boy because it’s almost pawty time.

This Saturday, March 26, El Paso Inc. is hosting the Downtown Pet Pawty at San Jacinto Plaza, and if unleashing your joy among a sea of furry and perhaps some feathered friends is how you plan to spend your Saturday then here’s what you need to know.

Pawty Time

The Downtown Pet Pawty is an all-pets inclusive event. All two and four-legged friends’ welcome as long as they are on a leash or in a carrier. Even no-legged (Ssssss!) if that’s how you roll. Activities include a dog walk, seminars, a pet fashion show and pet costume contest, and a goat yoga demonstration.

Food and drink vendors Tacos El Gomez, Kona Ice, and Cocina de Bere Food Truck will be on site, and so will pet related vendors Pawpy Love, Paw Bakery, PetSmart, Green Dog Pet Resorts, Pet's Barn, and Paw Munchies to name a few.

Chico, the El Paso Chihuahuas mascot, will make an appearance because it wouldn’t be a pawty without the party chihuahua himself.

Goat Yoga

Goat yoga is the latest wellness trend to sweep the nation, and frankly not a ba-a-a-a-ad way to relieve stress. It’s like a regular yoga session only some of your classmates have four legs. And hooves.

Yes, it’s a thing and El Paso Goat Yoga will be doing a demonstration right before the Dog Walk begins. Call me crazy, but it sounds like an unforgoatable time.

Pet Walk

The pet walk is pretty much what it sounds like; pets and their owners taking a chill stroll through downtown. Everyone interested in participating should meet at the intersection of Mesa and Oregon at approximately 9:45 a.m. The walk will begin at 10 a.m.

The first Best Pet Pawty will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 at San Jacinto Plaza.
