Hollywood Dirt – Did ‘Elle’ Cover up Melissa McCarthy Because She’s Full-figured?

ELLE MAGAZINE BLASTED FOR COVERING UP MELISSA McCARTHY: MELISSA McCARTHY appears on the cover for Elle's "Women in Hollywood" issue and critics are slamming the magazine for covering up the full-figured actress's body. While fellow cover models REESE WITHERSPOON, SHAILENE WOODLEY, and MARION COTILLARD showed plenty of skin, Melissa sported an over-sized coat.

That prompted many on the World Wide Web of Stop Fat Shaming to put Elle on blast. One comment accused Elle of making Melissa the  “token plus-size cover girl,” whose coat is “so huge…she could hide her Mike and Molly co-star underneath." The magazine responded to the backlash in a statement, saying, "On all of our shoots, our stylists work with the stars to choose pieces they feel good in, and this is no different: Melissa loved this look, and is gorgeous on our cover."

I don't know if the magazine made the decision to cover her up because she's a plus-size, but based on this photo of Melissa taken late this summer, they certainly put her on a digital diet ...

She posted a photo -- on Instagram, of couse -- with the caption, "Never ended such a beautiful show in tears because they wouldn't allow me to Instagram tonight. [I'm] completely heartbroken and pissed. Thank you SO much Brooklyn." Apparently, Selena has a tradition of taking photos with fans after her concerts, and for reasons not explained, wasn't allowed to at this show.

LADY GAGA FANS FEAR FOR HER MENTAL STATE OVER INSTAGRAM POSTS: In a somewhat bizarre Instagram-pop star related story, LADY GAGA fans reportedly contacted executives at the online sharing site expressing their concern for the singer’s mental health after reading depressing handwritten lyrics posted by Gaga earlier this week.

Instagram bosses wrote Gaga an email confirming “Members of the Instagram community have raised concerns for your well-being” and letting her know, “We’re reaching out to provide you with some important safety information.”
