The deadline to submit joint tenant-landlord applications to help avoid evictions has been extended via the EP Rent Help portal through this weekend.

The struggle is very real as the ongoing pandemic has crippled the economy and thousands of workers have been, laid off, or furloughed. Because of the economic hardships, landlords seeking to help their tenants avoid eviction can visit EPRentHelp.org to register their properties to participate in the EP Rent Help Program.

Thanks to the federal CARES Act funding, the EP Rent Help program is granting millions of dollars to landlords within the City of El Paso. Eligible landlords may apply for up to 3 months of past-due rent per eligible tenant up to $1,000 per month in accordance with the terms and conditions of the program.

Landlords must apply on behalf of their tenants while tenants will be required to provide information to their landlords to complete the application so it’s probably best you talk to your landlord immediately if you are facing eviction.

Verified landlords who have been approved to participate in the EP Rent Help Program have until 11:59 p.m. MDT on Sunday, August 2, 2020, to submit the final joint landlord-tenant application by visiting EPRentHelp.org.

For landlords who did not begin the verification process before the original deadline, now can also apply now through 11:59 p.m. MDT on Sunday, August 2, 2020.

The EPRentHelp.org website will remain open after the August 2 deadline for any applications/materials submitted to be considered based on an individual basis and while funding is still available.

The program is limited to tenants living in the City of El Paso and immigration status will not be a factor when distributing funds.
