Remember when Ascarate Park was the place to cruise in El Paso?

Guys in their drop tops and low-lows would roll around the horseshoe shaped road showing off their rides to the appreciative crowd chilling and grilling along the route.

Well if you remember when and wish those days would stage a comeback, you'll love this bit of news: the county park will be going back to its roots on Sunday, September 23. That night El Paso County Parks and Recreation is hosting "Cruise Night at Ascarate".

Car clubs and car enthusiasts with classic cars, hot rods, and tricked-out euro cars are invited to show their ride pride and cruise the lake like back in the day. Aww, yeah! Somebody better be bumpin' Suavecito.

So if your car (or truck) has some swagger, shine it up and show it off.

Food trucks and live music will be part of the mix as well, according to the event post. Sounds like the perfect spot to hang with the fam on a late summer El Paso evening.
