Crane Collapses on Lafayette Home During Large Tree Removal Operation – Watch
A scary situation unfolded in Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon when a crane fell on a house during a tree removal operation.
According to a KLFY report, the crane fell on a house in the 100 block of Goldman Street in Lafayette on Tuesday (Feb. 14) during the removal of a large tree. Lafayette Police Spokesperson Sgt. Robin Green confirmed the tree removal operation was being performed by CDH crane rentals.
Police Spokesperson Sgt. Robin Green said the crane tipped over and landed on the home in the 100 block of Goldman Street, causing major damage.
While there were no injuries reported, there was major damage to the home and the KLFY report said that the crane remained on the house "for hours" while authorities went through the removal process that started around 6 p.m.
As of 10 p.m. Tuesday night, the road near the incident was still blocked while the removal process continued.
