Cool Locals Who Could Do A Great Marty Robbins “El Paso” Cover
We all know and love to sing along to an old favorite called "El Paso" by Marty Robbins. This Western song is packed with romance, violence, and drama and won a grammy for Best County Western Performance.
The song is still considered a favorite after all this time and a great last-call song too. Have you ever wondered how a certain band would sing "El Paso" if they were to cover it?
I bet Metallica fans in El Paso were blowing up with excitement with Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett's stunt. Now if you were not there at Don Haskins Center for Metallica's concert, luckily there's YouTube.
Now if I must say, Metallica's version of "El Paso" had a lot of us cheering. It sure was a fantastic moment to see Metallica cover a song about our hometown.
Even Rosa's Cantina was lucky to be a part of Robert Trujillo's vocabulary on stage. If you missed the concert that year in 2019, just check out Abra Ham's YouTube video below.
But this got me thinking about which band from El Paso I would like to see perform a cover of "El Paso" in El Paso. Clearly, it should be the ones who have El Paso ties which gives you a few options.
I would like to know which of the choices between The Mars Volta, Sparta, At the Drive-In, Elia Esparza, Tito & Tarantula, and Khalid you would pick. Which of those would you absolutely love to hear cover Marty Robbins "El Paso" song?
In case you're wondering who Tito & Tarantula are, they're an American Chicano rock/ blues rock band. Their music was featured on some hot flicks in the past that almost everyone's a fan of. Plus, did I mention Tito Larriva was born in Ciudad Juarez then relocated to El Paso, and then after high school to Los Angeles.
Now you have to take into consideration of each artist's beat but come on now, they're all great. But like Metallica, imagine how another band or artist could add their own spinoff to that song.
I would definitely love to hear Sparta and Khalid cover "El Paso" someday in El Paso. Share with me who you would enjoy seeing cover "El Paso" in El Paso in the poll below.
