City of El Paso Participating in Nationwide Great American Cleanup
This Saturday, May 2, 2015, the City of El Paso’s Environmental Services Department (ESD) will be taking part in the Great American Cleanup.
The Great American Cleanup is a national event, developed by Keep America Beautiful, and is the country’s largest organized cleanup, beautification, and community improvement program, built on a foundation of individual responsibility and civic pride.
Last year more than 20,000 communities all across America volunteered their time and energy to make a difference in their respective communities.
There will be a total of 33 cleanup sites located throughout El Paso this year and at 27 of these sites, there will be roll-off trash containers where citizens can dispose of large and bulky items such as mattresses, furniture or lawn trash. Citizens may call 3-1-1 or visit elpasotexas.gov/environmental-services for times and clean-up locations in their area.
Roll-off dumpsters will not be accepting the following items:
- Tires
- Household hazardous waste materials (paint, motor oil, and chemicals)
- E-waste (cell phones, appliances, computers, etc.)
- Batteries of any kind
Stations will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents must provide an ID and a water bill to access the facilities.
