I'll admit that the words "cat" and "walk" caught my attention, seeing as how I'm dubbed the cat lady on the show, but after learning a little bit about it, I have to say I am tempted to pay it a visit; it is only about a three hour drive from El Paso!

The Catwalk Recreation Area in the Gila National Forest in Glenwood, New Mexico is considered one of the most beautiful and interesting trails. For many who are big lovers of hiking, and even those who are considering becoming avid hikers, this trail is short but a unique experience for hikers of any level.

The fact that half of the hike is on a suspended metal bridge is what gives this trail its name "catwalk trail". It's narrow but has such beautiful scenery along the way that includes waterfalls and a swimming hole at the end.

Funnily enough, the Catwalk is dog friendly- though they do advise that if you have small dogs their little paws may not do well with the steel grating. There is also a small recreational area for a picnic; and as always with any National Forest, pick up your trash!
