El Paso’s own Billy Townes along with local musicians will be hosting a free concert online tonight, Monday, March 23, 2020.

Due to self-quarantining because of the coronavirus (COVID-19), many musicians and artists are taking to social media to share their craft to help ease these tense times.

Local jazz musicians Billy Townes along with Ruben Gutierrez will be dueling pianos tonight and they will also have a few other musicians joining in including, Bruno Avitia, Eddie Provencio, along with vocalist Monica Gutierrez and saxophonist Nef Milian.

Billy Townes is quite popular around town – his fluid sound and jazz background has performed at Cool Canyon Nights at McKelligon Canyon, Al Fresco Fridays and various other venues across town. Townes has released two studio albums including Alchemy and Everyday Life while Gutierrez, has been performing since the age of 2 and is known for his rich blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms and traditional American bebop.

Since we are all doing our best to self-isolate it’s awesome to see that everyone including Billy Townes and the rest of the musical world is helping to bring some much-needed merriment during these uncertain times.

Tune in and watch these talented musicians simultaneously play originals, the standards, jazz, swing, Latin, and fusion in Dueling Pianos all while improvising and having fun in between.
