The talk two weeks ago was that Beyonce and Jay Z were going to announce a 20-stadium tour that would possibly include a show in our very own Sun Bowl. But the rumors turned out to be only half true: Bey and Jay are officially touring together this summer, but they won’t be making a stop in El Paso.

According to Beyonce’s website, the pair will be kicking off their On the Run Tour on June 25 in Miami and wrapping up on August 5 in San Francisco. All told the couple will play 16 shows in six-weeks, not the rumored 20. I reached out to Jorge Vazquez, director of Special Events at UTEP which operates the Sun Bowl, about the university's attempt at bringing the show here and the possibility of Sun Bowl stadium being added along the way. "Due to the limited number of tour dates this show will only go to the 16 major markets announced," Mr. Vazquez replied via email. He added, "I doubt more dates will be added."

So in all likelihood the closest Mr. and Mrs. Carter will be getting to El Paso is Houston’s Minute Maid Park on July 18, Jerry Jones’ AT&T Stadium in Dallas on July 22, and the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles on August 2. Check out Beyonce's website for the rest of their tour dates and ticket information.
