Beto O’Rourke gave a moving speech to thousands of supporters who turned out on Election Night at Southwest University Park.

All eyes across Texas and the rest of America was on the Texas State Senator race between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke. As the night progressed the call was made before 10 p.m. and we knew that Cruz had retained his seat on the Senate but it didn’t matter because all of O’Rourke’s supporters where there to witness history as this one guy from El Paso managed to shine a spotlight on our city and make waves on a national level.

As Beto and his wife Amy took the stage they shared a sweet moment before he spoke to the crowd who was chanting for him. He then thanked his family, his campaign workers and volunteers and thanked all of El Paso for their support. His speech was filled with optimism for the future saying that he had even called up Ted Cruz to offer to work alongside him or anyone who would have him go on board to make a change. Beto stood on that stage fearless, spoke eloquently and passionately about his vision for Texas and America at large and even dropped an F-bomb when praising his supporters.

Although Beto O'Rourke did not win he succeeded otherwise by winning the hearts of people all across the country including celebrities and even drove people to the polls to cast their vote who hadn’t done so in years or ever. At the end of the night his supporters, friends and family held their heads a little higher because one of their very own from El Paso gave them a fistful of hope and they know he will continue to do so wherever his political career takes him.
