No, I will not shut my pie hole. That hole was meant for pies.

While many of us are looking forward to a belly busting meal of turkey and all the trimmings on Thursday, I for one can’t wait to stuff my face at the end of the meal with a plateful of pie.

Nothing says Thanksgiving like a good, old-fashioned pie. What kind of pie depends on personal preference, but most likely it will be a slice or two of pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie is not only synonymous with Thanksgiving, it’s also by far America’s favorite Thanksgiving Day pie.

Pecan pie is also popular, especially here in Texas, and apple and sweet potato pie are part of the conversation too but overall pumpkin pie takes the cake – so to speak.

It’s been a holiday staple since the pilgrim days and is still the modern-day traditional favorite.

But to each their own. At my Thanksgiving family feast, pumpkin pie shares the table with pecan pie, pan dulce, and empanadas because, well, El Paso.
