Commuters in East El Paso should be aware that there will be a lane closure at Pebble Hills Blvd. and Zaragoza taking effect today, Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2015.

As part of the Pebble Hills Boulevard Extension project there will be a lane closure that will last for approximately one week, which will fill an important missing gap on Pebble Hills Boulevard from Zaragoza Road to Tierra Mina Drive.

The project includes the installation of a new storm sewer system, sanitary and sewer lines, new striping for bicycle lanes, upgraded traffic signals at Zaragoza Road, as well as additional landscaping and ADA compliant sidewalks with illumination.

This new road connection will create a continuous east-west thoroughfare running from John Hayes Street to Yarbrough Drive. It will also provide motorists with an option to access Loop 375 while avoiding the intersection at Zaragoza and Montwood, and will allow motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists to get where they’re going more effectively.

Once complete, this heavily traveled thoroughfare will enhance El Paso’s regional transportation system and infrastructure network, as well as promote the visual image of El Paso.
