If you’re looking for an entertainment option that will get you out of the house but you’re more comfortable with outdoor activities, Alamo Drafthouse Montecillo has a night-out planned you might be interested in.

The west side movie theatre is hosting a free screening of the 1995 movie “Desperado” on its patio this Thursday, February 25. The shoot-em-up stars Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas as El Mariachi who seeks revenge on the drug lord who killed his lover.

According to the event posting, the free to see outdoor flick will be shown on a giant screen and will get underway at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, and if you plan to go you should know that because of social distancing the patio can accommodate about 80 people. Other COVID measures that will be in place include the wearing of face masks when not actively eating or drinking.

When is Alamo Drafthouse East Expected to Open?

Movie-going Eastsiders who have been anxiously awaiting its opening are going to have to remain patient.

The ongoing pandemic and the effect it has had on the release of new films from movie studios has delayed the premiere of the new complex at Pellicano Drive near Joe Battle Boulevard. No date or timeline for its opening has been revealed at this time.

However, Alamo Drafthouse recently posted photos of the lobby’s luchador look coming together and it is just as colorful as one would expect from a theme that centers on performers known for their colorful tights, capes, and masks.
