Five -- yes, five -- new cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed in El Paso County.

The City of El Paso is being advised to stay healthy and stay away from anyone with symptoms that are similar to that of the West Nile Virus. The recent confirmed cases involve residents who live in the downtown, central and northeastern parts of El Paso. It is known that the victims include four elderly men and a woman. But no names have been released neither has the age of the woman who is infected.

The number of deaths due to West Nile this year still remains at two, but if the spread keeps on continuing, health officials are scared of what it may become. Some tips for avoiding West Nile include using a mosquito repellent that contains Deet and when outside wear long sleeves and long pants to avoid any skin exposed to mosquitoes who may be infected.
