There is some terribly sad news out of Fort Bliss today - one the post's top leaders, Command Sergeant Major Martin R. Barreras, has died in San Antonio from wounds he received in Afghanistan earlier this month. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, and the troops on Fort Bliss.
Please join me and KISS-FM in celebrating Veterans Day this year by helping us collect letters for deployed soldiers.
Being a veteran myself, I can honestly say it felt pretty good to know that there are people, who would take a few minutes out of their day to say thanks or just fill you in on where they are from and what they do...
For many of us, the toll of war is something we only think about on Memorial Day, or Veteran's Day, or when we hear about the death of a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan. But, fallen soldiers aren't just names on a wall, or represented by statues in Washington, D.C. They are actual people, and a group of artists an ocean away, want to show us all what the toll of war really looks like.
