Award Winning Playwright and Actor Arrested in New Mexico

An American playwright, actor, television and film director was arrested in Santa Fe.

Sam Shepard was arrested in the parking lot of Choza restaurant in downtown Santa Fe. Police say Shepard tried to leave the parking lot of the restaurant but did not go very far because the parking brake was on.

Police noticed his vehicle smoking as he tried to drive away and they pulled him over in the restaurant parking lot and noticed he was possibly intoxicated. His eyes were watery and bloodshot and smelled of alcohol.

Shepard failed the field sobriety test and he was arrested. No word on when the actor made bail. See Shepard's mugshot here.
