Got big plans for you and your sweetie this Valentine's Day? How will you perform? The fact is that most Texans, specifically west Texans may be under the impression that getting your 'significant other' a special kind of gift is all it takes, and nothing could be further from the truth according to the latest survey from Shane Company.

While the survey was conducted nationwide, everyone that responded had high expectations of what to do and what not to do on the magical day of love. Being "happily" married for 38 years, the biggest mistake I saw is that giving certain items for Valentine's Day is a BIG no-no in my book.

Furthermore, I feel weird just being in a lingerie store or the lingerie department at one of those big boujie stores. The fact on this matter is that most women don't want their significant other purchasing their lingerie for them. The Shane Company graph above shows the differences in opinions between men and women.

Wanna hit a home run this Valentine's Day? Make it a date with dinner at his or her favorite place and a meaningful gift that you thought of personally. We Texans don't want to cook at all on the day of love, but rather eat out at (big surprise here) an Asian food restaurant. And all these years I thought she wanted Mexican or Italian food, boy was I wrong, thanks Shane Co. for the heads up.

There is a huge contrast in what the different generations think is appropriate for V-Day: according to the survey,  each generation has its own expectations for what is considered appropriate Valentine’s Day conduct. For example, 58% of Gen Zers prefer multiple thoughtful, inexpensive gifts, while 56% of millennials prefer to receive a single expensive gift. It would also appear that wine and dining is slowly becoming a thing of the past, as 30% of Gen Zers prefer to go for a tasty cocktail or liquor drink at the dinner table. Source: Shane Co.com

So if you haven't made your plans yet, you may want to follow some of the above-mentioned ideas and score an A or an A+ on your Valentine's Day performance.
