Halloween just wrapped up and not even 24 hours after my son hit me with a question he had been waiting months to ask me: “When can we start decorating for Christmas?!"

Yup. Thanksgiving hasn’t even passed yet but my teenage son is already trying to decorate for Christmas! My bank account is freaking out because I thought I still had a good month before having to worry about Christmas shopping!

Every year after Halloween wraps up my son asks me to take him to Home Depot so we could start our “window shopping” for Christmas decorations. I’ll admit, although Christmas stresses me out, seeing how happy it makes my teenage son makes up for all the stress.

Christmas brings a sense of nostalgia for many

For my son, Christmas brings back so many positive memories. The best childhood memories he has are of me and him decorating our two bedroom apartment to feel like a Christmas wonderland.

Then when we finally got a house, he was even more excited to be able to put decorations outside for others to see, so putting up the holiday decor is nostalgic for him, and even though I would rather wait to put up holiday decorations until AFTER Thanksgiving, I may budge this year just to see that smile on my teenage son’s face.
