Gene Gene, "The Dancing Machine",  was an NBC stage hand named Eugene Patton who worked on the "Gong Show" with Chuck  Barris. He was discovered when Chuck saw him dancing back stage and made him a regular on the show. Eugene continued to work back stage at NBC for many years. In 2001, he lost both legs to complications from diabetes.  He now wears  prosthetics and walks with a cane..!!
