Yes, Canyon, Texas Is The Latest To Jump In On Pickleball
The pickleball epidemic's slow spread has finally reached out for the small Texas panhandle community of Canyon, Texas. Where once you might have found a skate park, or tennis courts; you now will find pickleball courts.
If you have found yourself dwelling peacefully under the aforementioned rock, I'll clue you in on what pickleball is. Imagine all the games that involve a net and a ball had a love child. That's pickleball, and it's taking over.
An announcement was made recently by the City of Canyon that the community's new pickleball courts were finally going to be open to the public. Pickleball enthusiasts cheered.
Then, came the correction.

There really are pickleball courts. It's true. However, the opening of the courts had to be delayed because of a slight issue with a key component of all public "courts."
The lights.
A correction was issued on social media after the announcement was made that the courts were open. Apparently, there was an issue with the lights. That issue would need to be addressed before the courts were officially open for your pickleballing enjoyment.
Typing that just feels...odd. Pickleball is such an unfortunate name for a sport.

When it comes to the sport of pickleball, the statement issued by the City of Canyon did point out that you don't need a reservation, and the courts are free to use.
